River Ganga has been the source of physical and spiritual sustenance of Indian civilization for millennia. To the Indian mind, River Ganga is living Goddess. On the west bank of India’s holiest river, the ancient city of Varanasi attracts thousands of pilgrims but is ill-equipped to treat their waste.
NJS was selected as Project Management Consultants for JICA Assisted Ganga Action Plan-II Project at Varanasi, which emphases the abatement pollution of River Ganga &Varuna by implementing Engineering, Social & Institutional Programs in the City of Varanasi. Under Institutional Development Program, NJS developed and analyzed the 800 KM of Asset data, Consumer database; conceptualize the UP GIS State Data Centre under IDP, Develop the Institutional Development Plan with Bid documents for Digital Innovation Component under IDP
Innovation
NJSEI develop & analyzed more than 800 kilometers of sewer network and recommended improvements based on 50 cm High Resolution Satellite Imagery for all sewerage zones of Varanasi Urban Area. The team prepared online GIS database, developed sewage zones, updated the sewerage network inventory, modeled existing and proposed sewerage systems, prepared system rehabilitation and expansion plans, and proposed more efficient operating strategies.
Achievement
The team developed an existing and proposed asset database under all upcoming schemes; Consumer database; hydraulic reviews, and conducted integrated Geospatial Analysis in a collaborative environment, streamlining Hydraulics and associated engineering workflows & processes
